The fountain of Neptune, known in dialect as “U Giganti” (“The Giant”) or “U Cibbiuni” (“The Great Pond”), stands in the centre of the main square, and is the monumental culmination point of the very first aqueduct of Cetraro. The square in which it is located, known today as Piazza del Popolo, once was called Piazza Umberto I and hosted the “Purta ‘i Supra”, one of the three city gates of Cetraro in the Middle Ages.
